If you decide that you no longer want the car you rented or leased, that’s fine. You won’t have any additional costs, fees, or obligations to worry about.
CDW stands for Collision Damage Waiver and is a required element of most car rental contracts in Dubai.
It protects the person who rented or leased the car from having to pay extreme amounts of money, following an accident.
The CDW establishes a maximum financial liability – a maximum amount of money that the customer’s responsible for – in regard to any damage caused to the rental car.
The customer has protection from the CDW for as long as they adhere to the responsibilities and obligations of the rental car contract – throughout the duration of the contract.
The actual language of the CDW can differ from contract to contract and from car rental provider to provider, so you should always make sure the CDW is in the contract and fully understand what it states.
Being in a car accident is stressful and scary, but try as best as you can to stay calm and collected and you’ll remain in control.
Emergency medical assistance is always the #1 priority and needs to be dealt with immediately.
- Call 999 to get medical assistance dispatched to the accident
Secondly, as per Dubai law, every car accident – whether a major or a minor one, is required to be reported to the police.
If the accident resulted in significant damage or any injuries, then you must contact the same number – call 999.
The traffic police will respond to document the event as well as direct traffic.
If the accident is minor (no injuries and no significant damage) then you can use the Dubai Police app to report the accident, file a report – even take photos of the damage and scene.
Once all the legal stuff is in hand, give the Rent2Ride 24/7/365 roadside assistance a call and we’ll have a technician sent out to help you.
